What is Yoast SEO Plugin: Yoast SEO is a complete WordPress SEO plugin that exists today for WordPress.org users. It incorporates everything from a snippet editor and real-time page analysis functionality that helps you optimize your pages content, images titles, meta descriptions and more to XML sitemaps, and loads of optimization options in between. In this post, I share how to set up Yoast SEO A full step by step guide for new blogger including screenshots.

First of all, you need to open your WordPress dashboard>Plugin>Add new>Find Yoast SEO on search box >install & activate successfully.

After that, you find a Yoast icon on left side.Click there & open a new page of general setting.

General:

Start tour option is an induction part where they can introduce every part & function of Yoast SEO.View changes bar you find the updated SEO what are changed recently & click on save changes[Please note for first time user you did not use restore setting option].

Your Info;

Add website name,your website title which specifies your website.It’s related to link name or another name. Such as I choose I Download [www.I-download.net]. Or you can choose an alternate name. In company or person option select person(If you are a blogger) otherwise select company. By this below position select person name or company name or logo & save it.[Blogger,small individuals businessman select person other small group enterprise select company ]

Webmaster Tools:

You find Alexa,bing,google search,Yandex webmaster tool.

Ex. If you use Google search console.Open a new tab.Select any verification method & after that you receive the verification id.Copy this id & paste on Yoast.Check manually add the website on google webmaster tool.Follow this process for other search engines also.

Security:

This option indicates advance part of meta box of WordPress SEO.I recommended disable it.

OnPage.org:

This is an indelibility check option.Recommended to enable.

Title & Metas:

In Title & Metas option you in the general bar, there is title separator which can separate the post title & website title.If you find any keyword on google search you will find some “-” this is the separator.Select your own separator & save it.

Homepage:

Find title template & meta description template.Title template type- %%sitename%%-Your website title.Ex when open any website if you move the cursor on top tab bar you will see a title when to moving it to other position you didn’t see.It’s called title template. Meta description add your website description.

Post Types:

In this option after title remove the other part.Ex. On post, part Title template %%title%% part are required.Because when your site is seen in the search engine especially title in the show. Do follow on same pages & media,save this setting.

Taxonomies

In taxonomies tab you can change meta robots to noindex & SEO Meta box show option.

Archives:

The Archives tab you find title and meta settings for author archives date archives & special pages such as search and 404 pages. Suggest noindex & disable author archive & leave other settings.

Other:

You should follow this setting otherwise leave this blank.

Accounts:

You add your facebook fan page URL ,twitter username,google+ URL etc.

Facebook Open graph metadata click enables which will choose a perfect thumbnail for & post information when sharing it on facebook.Add facebook image URL or upload your fan page profile picture.A title of the facebook page,website description.Add default image when the image is used if the post/page being shared does not contain any images.Adding facebook admin clicks on Facebook Insights

Twitter:

Add twitter data meta card for your site & summary with the large image.

Pinterest:

Pinterest uses Open Graph metadata just like Facebook, so be sure to keep the Open Graph checkbox on the Facebook tab checked. To optimize your website verify your site & add verification code.

Google Plus:

On google plus tab add google+ specific post meta data enable.If you create a google fan page for your blog/website please copy & paste the URL.

XML Sitemaps:

Sitemaps are very important for every blog/website which can accessible to all viewers.Its visualize a total overview of a website.The XML sitemaps are various division.I describe briefly.

General Tab First enable XML Sitemaps functionality.See your sitemap by clicking XML sitemap bar.

User Sitemap:

Disable author/user sitemap.

Post Type:

If you include post,pages & media on sitemap select this otherwise select not in a sitemap.

Exclude Posts:

Here you can exclude post from the sitemap.You need to type the post id.

Taxonomies:

Include category & tag on sitemaps just enable it.

Breadcrumbs:

Breadcrumbs are used for internal links.Get the extra advantage on the search engine enable this option.Taxonomy to show in breadcrumbs for post types selects the category to save the setting.

Permalinks:

Please remember Yoast SEO permalinks & WordPress permalinks are different. Please don’t try to find the similarities. Follow this screenshots

RSS:

This feature is used to automatically add content to your RSS. simply follow this setting.

Now go to next on tools option.

Tools:

Bulk editor quickly changes title description posts etc.File editor import & export strongly not recommended for beginner silly mistake the site can unavailable from the search engine.
